- 08-03-2005: Phishers Use Wildcard DNS to Build Convincing Bait URLs – Netcraft yesterday reported about people using DNS wildcard records for phising; ZDnet today reports about Internationalized Domain Names being used for that purpose.
- 02-02-2005: Criminals use DNS spoofing to make money (update) – The SANS institute called the Bright article a “hoax”, while people of Bright claimed that the article did actually contain news.
- 16-02-2005: Registrars End Effort to Block Domain Name Service – eWeek reports this week about a lawsuit filed by a group of registrars on the so-called WLS or wait-listing service: after several claims by the plaintiffs were dismissed, the registrars decided to drop the case.
- 02-02-2005: Criminals use DNS spoofing to make money – Various Dutch media are carrying a story today from a new Dutch technology/lifestyle magazine called Bright about DNS spoofing: taking over the control of domain names. There reportedly is a group of online criminals that is doing this for money. Read more
